Costa Rican cyclist Josep Ramírez launched a devastating attack in the final three kilometers of the race, securing victory in the second stage of the 45th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Chiriquí, held this Saturday in the Volcán region.

Ramírez, a member of the Colono Bikestation Kolbi team, recorded a time of 1 hour, 58 minutes, and 30 seconds, outsprinting Jason Huertas of Manzate La Selva Scott and Christofer Jurado of the National Police-Aeronaval team, who completed the day’s podium.

Despite the stage victory, the overall standings are still led by Spaniard Pablo Mudarra, who has a cumulative time of 5 hours and 11 minutes, maintaining a 13-second advantage over Belizean Derrick Chavarría of the Tag Cycling Team, and 14 seconds over Josep Ramírez.

Meanwhile, the best-placed Panamanian in the general classification remains Bolívar Espinosa of the Senafront-Rali team, who occupies ninth position, 44 seconds behind leader Mudarra.

One of the most competitive categories is the Junior, which now has Emanuel Viane from Azuero, riding for Rali Far Express, in the lead with a time of 5 hours, 35 minutes, and 42 seconds, just one second ahead of Anthony Cortés of the Caminos de Omar Foundation. In the mountain classification, Josep Ramírez remains in the lead with 5 points, while Pablo Mudarra continues to dominate the points classification with 35 points. In the Master category, Fernando Ureña of the Caminos de Omar Foundation remains the leader.

The Colono Bikestation Kolbi team also continues to lead the team classification, thanks to a solid performance from all its riders in the competition.

This Sunday, the third stage of the Vuelta Ciclista a Chiriquí will be held on a closed circuit in David Sur, covering a distance of 82 kilometers divided into 20 laps. The stage will begin at 11:00 a.m.
