Just before the start of the Giro d’Italia 2025, Venezuelan Orluis Aular has left his impressions on what will be for him his debut in the Corsa Rosa this May 9 as part of Movistar Team.
His club’s fast man admitted to being delighted at the start in Albania: “Happy, happy to be here and to be part of the Giro, it’s a dream come true, I’m very happy to be here”.
He was asked about his chances of victory in a finish that can adapt well to his characteristics and talked about both him and another teammate in the telephone team to be able to fight for the win in Tirana:
“Today can be a nice day, there are lots and lots of very strong rivals, it’s going to be a pretty hard race at the end with those two mountain passes, the team trusts me and Jon Barrenetxea who can also do well today and hopefully we’ll be there to fight for the win.”
On whether the pure sprinters like Olav Kooij would have options, he didn’t want to get wet, although he assured that the day would be very hard: “I think it’s going to be a race that will go very fast, I think the climbs will be at their best, have a good feeling and why not fight for the final sprint”.
Finally, he made it clear that there is not a leader between him and Barrenetxea to fight for the win and that they will decide at the end depending on how each one is doing:
“Jon comes in very good shape, from doing third in Frankfurt, I’ve been in very good shape, I’ve been in very good shape, from doing third in Frankfurt, I’ve been in very good shape.
