The South American Mountain Bike Cross Country (XCO) Championship, held between October 28 and November 2, 2025, in Talcahuano, Chile, saw the Argentine delegation crowned champion in the overall medal count, in a competition that featured the participation of 10 nations.
The Colombian tricolor flag flew in Talcahuano, with a remarkable performance that saw them win four medals on a demanding circuit that brought together the continental elite of the discipline. Colombia confirmed its progress and consolidation in the region with podium finishes in junior categories.
The event, held on the El Tranque circuit, brought together cyclists from more than 10 countries in a competition marked by technical difficulty, rocky terrain, and the characteristic intensity of XCO, the Olympic discipline of mountain biking.
At the 2025 South American XCO Championships, Colombia won four medals: gold in the Men’s Junior category with Camilo Hernández, silver in the Men’s Cadet category with Juan Miguel León, bronze in the Women’s Junior category with Lina Valeria Sosa, and bronze in the Men’s Under-23 category with Juan Esteban Donado.
The 2025 South American MTB XCO Championships in Talcahuano were described by organizers as one of the toughest editions in recent years. Under dry conditions and with challenging terrain, the cyclists had to demonstrate power, technique, and endurance on a course that combined demanding climbs, technical corners, and highly difficult descents.
