The stage 2 of the 2026 Tour of El Salvador was held this Monday, a 91-kilometer route that ran from the Surf City bypass to Acaxual Street in Sonsonate.

The winner of this stage was Spaniard Ainara Albert Bosch, of the Cogeas Roland team, who crossed the finish line with a time of 2:36:39. Second place went to Colombian Jannie Milena Salcedo of the Pato Bike BMC Team, while third place was secured by Kazakh Yelizaveta Sklyarova of the ODL Team Kiwi Atlántico-Craega.

The Spaniard continues her strong performance in the competition. She previously finished second in both the Prologue and Stage 1, results that allow her to maintain her lead in the general classification. In the overall standings, Dutch rider Marjolein van ‘t Geloof of the Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi team dropped to second place, while Italian Giorgia Vettorello of the Cogeas Roland team remains in third.

Albert Bosch was delighted to take first place in a stage after finishing as high as second in the previous two days.

“As I said on the first day, it was my first UCI podium, I was very happy. Yesterday (Sunday) I almost finished there again. The team worked really hard. I was a little disappointed, in quotes, because I wanted to finish strong, and today I did, and what better way than with the yellow jersey. I’m very happy for this team, which is like a big family, so they deserved it,” he said after the race.

The Spanish cyclist commented that she was already familiar with the course from last year’s Tour de France, even though it was previously two different stages, and highlighted her team’s work in securing the victory.

“I knew it from last year; it was a combination of two stages. I had it pretty well in mind. We were at the front the whole race, without showing ourselves too much, but keeping an eye on Laboral (the Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi team), since they’re the team to watch. We were very ready, very attentive. The team protected me a lot. When they tried to create echelons, we were there, and then they executed the sprint perfectly,” she added.

Stage 3 will be held this Tuesday starting at 9:00 a.m. The starting point will be on Boulevard Constitución, near Walmart, and will continue to the Claudia Lars. Peripheral Highway, passing by Lake Coatepeque.

This event is organized by the Government of El Salvador, with logistical support from the Salvadoran Cycling Federation and is endorsed by the International Cycling Union (UCI), being Category 1 in the female modality and will award 4,500 points for the world ranking.
