The sixth stage of the 2025 Vuelta Ciclista Internacional a Chiriquí, Copa Telca, has seen Costa Rican Alejandro Granados take the overall lead. The stage culminated this Wednesday at the legendary La Chancleta climb in Boquete.
Granados takes over from his Colono Bikestation Kolbi teammate, Pablo Mudarra, after being part of a breakaway in the final 18 kilometers, crossing the finish line in 3 hours, 11 minutes, and 52 seconds.
The route ran between David, the entrance to San Andrés, San Pablo, Dolega, Potrerillos, and La Chancleta, covering 127.2 kilometers and including two categorized climbs. Sergio Arias, also from Colono Bikestation Kolbi, won the overall classification with 24 points. The second position in the stage went to Sergio Arias, who finished 16 seconds behind, and third to Joseph Ramírez, who crossed the line 19 seconds back, completing an all-Colono Bikestation Kolbi podium once again.
The best Panamanian on this “queen” stage was Randish Lorenzo, of the National Police-Aeronaval, 3:58 minutes behind.
The overall standings are now led by 21-year-old Alejandro Granados, with a time of 16 hours, 15 minutes, and 46 seconds. He is followed by Sergio Arias, 25 seconds behind, and Joseph Ramírez, 32 seconds behind.
The best Panamanian in the individual general classification remains Bolívar Espinosa, of Senafront Rali, 9:20 minutes behind. Other category leaders include Emanuel Viane of Rali Far Express Herrera in Junior, Fernando Ureña of Fundación Caminos de Omar in Master, Alejandro Granados in U23, and Joseph Ramírez in Regularity with 65 points.
This Thursday, November 26, the seventh and penultimate stage of the Vuelta a Chiriquí, Copa Telca, will be a 19.3-kilometer individual time trial between Plaza de Chiriquí-Punta Tierra and Plaza de Chiriquí.
