This Monday, the 2025 BMX Racing World Championship officially began, being held in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the cruiserweight events, which opened the competitive calendar of the global competition.
Great news for the country came from Guadalupe Palacios, who won the silver medal (W2) in the Women’s 13-16 years category, once again demonstrating the power of Colombian BMX on the international scene. With this medal, Palacios achieves a new milestone in her sporting career and brings the first medal to the national delegation in this edition of the World Championship.
Meanwhile, Juan Nicolás Caicedo nearly reached the podium in the Cruiserweight 12 years and under category, achieving a creditable fourth place (W4), in a final won by American Cody Young.
The cruiser events bring together the world’s best riders on 24-inch wheels and serve as a prelude to the weekend’s Championship competitions, where Colombia will feature its top elite, junior, and U-23 riders.
The competitions will continue this Tuesday, with events in the women’s and men’s categories for ages 8, 9, 10, and 11, as well as in the women’s cruiser categories: 17-29, 30-39, and 20-inch, and men’s categories: 30-34, and 35-39.
