The Colombian track cycling team was a star on Wednesday, winning the women’s omnium and men’s sprint events at the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games.

Colombian Luciana Osorio earned 134 points after the 64 laps of the women’s omnium and took gold. Argentina’s Julieta Benedetti took silver with 131 points, and Chile’s Javiera Garrido won bronze with 121 points. With this result, Luciana earned a direct spot at the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.

In the second round, Colombian Nicolás Olivera also climbed to the top of the podium after defeating Venezuela’s Alberto Torres, who took silver in the men’s sprint category.

The bronze medal went to Argentine Alberto Betique, who defeated Colombian Francisco Jaramillo, who suffered a severe fall during the initial run and received medical attention.

Following these results, Colombia now leads the overall medal table in this sport, with four gold medals and one silver. Behind them are Chile (2-0-1), Argentina (0-3-1), Mexico (0-1-2), Venezuela (0-1-0), and Trinidad and Tobago (0-0-2).

Track cycling at the Asunción 2025 Pan American Games will take place from August 12 to 15 at the National Olympic Velodrome in the Paraguayan city of Luque, where the women’s sprint and men’s omnium finals will take place this Thursday.
