Costa Rican Gloriana Quesada won the gold medal in the women’s individual time trial (ITT) at the XII Central American Games Guatemala 2025, after a brilliant performance in the stage held in Quenzatenango.
Quesada recorded a time of 32:46.94, beating Jasmin Soto of Guatemala (33:19.03) and her compatriot Milagro Mena, who secured the bronze with 34:26.13.
“I’m so happy to give Costa Rica a gold medal back at these Central American Games; they’re my first, we’re starting the process and getting off on the right foot,” said Quesada after the awards ceremony.
“It was a slightly unusual time trial, with uneven terrain, but nothing we haven’t experienced before. I gave it my all and here’s the result,” added the cyclist, who will be competing on the road course on Sunday.
In the men’s category, Panamanian Franklin Archibol confirmed his credentials as a favorite and won the course with a time of 41:26.470. Donovan Ramírez of Costa Rica took silver with a time of 41:46.170.
The Costa Rican team’s performance reflected the depth of that nation’s cycling, with a group that has managed to combine experience and youth to remain competitive in the region.
Costa Rican cycling thus added another gold medal to the medal tally at these Central American Games, contributing to the delegation’s strong start to Guatemala 2025. As of Saturday, October 18, Costa Rica had 10 golds, 11 silvers, and 20 bronzes.
