The Colombian Cycling Federation has announced the 14-rider roster for the Colombian National Team, which will represent the country at the Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, to be held from September 21 to 28, 2025.
A solid, diverse group brimming with youth and experience will take the national tricolor to the top in Africa, under the direction of National Road Team Coach David Vargas.
In the men’s elite category, Colombia will feature internationally renowned riders such as Egan Bernal, Tour de France and Giro d’Italia champion and an undisputed figure in world cycling; Walter Vargas, six-time Pan American time trial champion and highly consistent in long-distance events; Harold Tejada, a combative rider with great ability in the mountains; and Brandon Rivera, a versatile rider who provides strength on demanding terrain.
The national team will also rely on young athletes in the U23 category. Juan Felipe Rodríguez, 2025 Vuelta de la Juventud champion and third overall winner of the fourth stage of the Ronde de l’Isard (2.2U) held last May, will be there, as will Jaider Muñoz, mountain champion of the Ronde de l’Isard (2.2U) and winner of the fifth and sixth stages of the 2025 Vuelta de la Juventud. Muñoz is coming off the best Colombian finish at the 2025 Tour de L’Avenir, finishing 31st.
The Colombian youth academy will also be present with two promising men’s athletes: Jerónimo Calderón and Kevin Andrés Estupiñán, who will be experiencing their first World Championships and will compete against the best in the world in the youth category.
In the women’s elite, Colombia will field Paula Andrea Patiño, who finished sixth overall in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and competed with her team in the Giro d’Italia Women (37th) and Tour de Romandie Féminin (11th), and Diana Carolina Peñuela, who this season was crowned champion of the 2025 Vuelta a Colombia Femenina; national time trial champion; and champion of the Vuelta al Tolima and the Clásica de Rionegro.
The U23 women’s category will be represented by Pan American and national road champion Juliana Londoño and double U23 national road and time trial champion Natalia Garzón, both with outstanding prospects and ready to make their mark at the world championships.
In the junior category, the team will feature two-time Pan American road champion Luciana Osorio and Pan American time trial runner-up Estefanía Castillo, two highly talented riders who symbolize the future of Colombian women’s cycling.
With this roster, the Colombian Cycling Federation reaffirms its commitment to the development and advancement of the different categories, bringing to Kigali a team balanced with experience and youth, eager to shine on the most important stage in world road cycling.
