A new edition of the Egan Bernal Gran Fondo is coming. Last year’s event was held in Bogotá and was a resounding success. Now, he has the opportunity to race in his hometown of Zipaquirá, alongside his fans, riding some of the routes he used to prepare for his major victories, such as the 2019 Tour de France and the 2021 Giro d’Italia.

More than 4,000 cyclists are expected to participate in various categories: Gran Fondo, Medio Fondo, MTB, and this year there will be a children’s category. The route will pass through seven municipalities in Cundinamarca: Zipaquirá, Cajicá, Chía, Cota, Tenjo, Tabio, and Cogua.

The Ineos rider will be joined by several stars, most notably Nairo Quintana and Rigoberto Urán. The three recently participated in the Giro de Rigo in Barranquilla and will be back on the road. In the capital of the Atlantic coast, they had a blast, pushing the group of fans and attacking each other to thrill the participants.

Also on the guest list are Harold Tejada, Santiago Buitrago, Brandon Rivera, Óscar Sevilla, Diana Peñuela, and Jarlison Pantano. A strong list of riders who will cheer on all the participants.

What will the Egan Gran Fondo route be like?

The Gran Fondo will cover 140.8 kilometers. These are routes that Egan Bernal knows very well, and perhaps Nairo Quintana as well, who has also ridden in Cundinamarca. There will be long climbs. It all starts at the Salt Park in Zipaquirá.

The Medio Fondo will cover a total of 105 kilometers. The children’s race, which is the big new addition this year, will have six categories: Push Bike, Initiation A, Initiation B, Initiation C, Beginner, and Pre-Infant.
