Three consecutive victories were enough for Isaac del Toro to become the new leader of the 2025 Tour of Austria. The Mexican rider from UAE Team Emirates, who remains unstoppable, crossed the finish line alone after covering 117.3 kilometers between Innsbruck and Kühtai.
The season’s biggest revelation, del Toro, who was the strongest in the final kilometers, beat Irishman Archie Ryan (EF Education-EasyPost) by 6 seconds and his teammate, Polish rider Rafał Majka, by 4 seconds. Colombian Esteban Chaves (EF Education-EasyPost), with a strong performance, finished fifth, 34 seconds behind the winner.
The mountainous stage featured no fewer than four categorized climbs, two of which were special category climbs, and the last, which was first category climb, with 5.8 kilometers at seven percent. Bogotá native Esteban Chaves was one of the main protagonists at this summit. At the finish, Chaves was one of the first to attack, but the UAE riders neutralized him and set the pace on the steepest sections. In the end, the Mexican showed his skills as a great climber to take another victory, leaving him in the lead with one day remaining.
The Austrian race will conclude this Sunday with the fifth and final leg, a 144.2-kilometer leg around the city of Feldkirch, where we will find out who will succeed Italian Diego Ulissi.
