In a close finish marred by a crash, Jonathan Milan (Lidl – Trek) emerged victorious in stage 17 of the 2025 Tour de France. The Italian sprinter was the fastest on the streets of the French city of Valence, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, after covering 160.4 kilometers.

The European sprinter, who achieved his second victory in the current French round, narrowly beat Belgian Jordi Meeus (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe) and Dane Tobias Lund Andresen (Team Picnic PostNL). The best Colombian of the day was Sergio Higuita (XDS Astana Team) in 66th place with the same time as the winner.

In the general classification, Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates – XRG) retained the yellow jersey for another day, ahead of Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and German Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe). Sergio Higuita (XDS Astana Team) is the best rider in 19th place.

The day’s breakaway was led by Italian Vincenzo Albanese (EF Education – EasyPost), Norwegian Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility), and Frenchmen Quentin Pacher (Groupama – FDJ) and Mathieu Burgaudeau (Team TotalEnergies), but all were neutralized by the peloton towards the end, as expected.

The French tour will continue this Thursday, July 23, with stage 18, a super-mountainous 171.5-kilometer stage between Vif and Courchevel, including three non-category climbs, finishing at the Col de la Loze (26.5 km at 6.4%).
