Costa Rican Jason Huertas, of the ManzaTé-La Selva-Scott team, won the third stage of the 45th Vuelta Internacional a Chiriquí ‘Copa Telca’ on Sunday. The 82-kilometer stage saw him ride at an average speed of 46.55 kilometers per hour to take first place.

Huertas, who also won this stage last year, clocked a time of 1 hour, 45 minutes, and 41 seconds. Dominican Alberto Ramos finished second in the final sprint, while Joseph Ramírez of Colono Bikestation Kolbi completed the podium with the same time as the winner.

It was a day of high temperatures, and fellow Costa Rican Pablo Mudarra, also of Colono Bikestation Kolbi, retained the overall leader’s jersey with a time of 6 hours, 57 minutes, and 18 seconds.

“You have to be consistent. The team did the work, we went for the win, and we achieved it. This time the race was faster, but we knew how to manage it to reach our goal,” said Huertas.

The best Panamanian rider in the overall individual classification is Bolívar Espinosa, of Senafront Rali, who remains in ninth position, 40 seconds behind the leader.

In the Master category, the leader is Fernando Ureña from Chiriquí, of Fundación Caminos de Omar, while in Junior, Emanuel Viane, of Rali Far Express, is in the lead, and Colono Bikestation Kolbi holds first place in the team standings.

Today, Monday, the fourth stage is being run, a 144.6-kilometer route between David, Paso Canoas, Finca Blanco, Paso Canoas, and Solano.
