The 61st edition of the Vuelta al Táchira was won by Venezuelan Jorge Abreu (Fina Arroz CES Multimarcas Bancamiga JHS). The 35-year-old, winner of the fourth stage, easily defended his lead in the final stage, held between the cities of Ureña and San Cristóbal.

The podium of the Táchira race, part of the UCI calendar, was completed by local rider Diego Alejandro Méndez (Lotería del Táchira Servitel) and Colombian Brandon Vega (GW Erco SportFitness), who finished second and third, respectively.

The top five was rounded out by Venezuelan Carlos Gálviz (Politachira Heidy Lee Sport TVN Norte) and the experienced Antioquian cyclist Alexander Gil (GW Erco SportFitness).

Colombia bid farewell with a spectacular victory in the final stage, won by Medellín native Alexander Gil (GW Erco SportFitness), after breaking away and riding solo for the final kilometers, ahead of Venezuelan Jesús Goyo (Fina Arroz CES Multimarcas Bancamiga).

In a thrilling finish, starting in Ureña and finishing in San Cristóbal, over a 99.3-kilometer course, the title was decided, with the experienced rider from Medellín surprising everyone by launching a solo attack. The cyclists faced a demanding circuit, with several short, steep climbs and a final flat section to the finish line at the José de Jesús Mora Figueroa Velodrome.
