The young British rider Joshua Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers) fulfilled the predictions and was the best in the individual time trial of 13.7 kilometers of the 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia, which took place in Tirana, the Albanian capital.

The time trial specialist beat Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe) by one second, who snatched the leader’s jersey from Danish Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek), who finished 7th, 12 seconds behind Tarling.

In a great performance, the Mexican Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates – XRG) was the best Latin American in 12th place, followed by the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez in 14th place. With this result the Mexican climbed to sixth place in the overall individual.

In the day’s results, Australian Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates – XRG) was third, while the best Colombian was Daniel Felipe Martínez (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe) in 14th place, 22 seconds behind.

As for the overall individual classification, there were important changes in the top positions. Mads Pedersen ceded the lead to the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe). The podium was completed by Czech Mathias Vacek (Lidl – Trek).

The Italian round will finish this Sunday its journey through Albanian soil with the third stage, an undulating 165.8-kilometer stage around the port city of Vlorë, which includes two categorized mountain passes.
