In an exciting finish, Karen Lorena Villamizar (Pato Bike BMC Team) won the opening stage of the 2025 Women’s Tour of Guatemala, which kicked off with a 92-kilometer stage around the municipality of Santa Apolonia, in the department of Chimaltenango.

The Colombian cyclist, who achieved her first victory of the season, was the strongest in the final, supported by two riders from the Macizo-Banrural team: her compatriot Camila Valbuena and Guatemalan Gabriela Soto, who crossed the finish line in second and third, respectively.

The 23rd edition of the Guatemalan race, a UCI Category 2.2 event, one of the most important in Central America, kicked off with a peloton of 56 cyclists from 11 teams, including 14 Colombians.

This Friday, the second stage of the 110-kilometer Guatemalan race will take place around the village of San Juan Argueta, in the northwest of the municipality of Sololá.
