The rider from Paraíso was propelled by leader Luis Daniel Oses to first place in the eighth stage of the Tour of Costa Rica 2025 Telecable, confirming the dominance of the 7C Economy Hyundai team with a first and third place finish on the overall podium.

The queen stage of the Tour of Costa Rica 2025 Telecable took place between Pérez Zeledón and San Rafael de Oreamuno, featuring a breakaway of eight riders who led much of the climb to La Georgina (HC).

Joseph Ramírez (Colono Bikestation Kolbi), Gabriel Pacheco (ManzaTé La Selva Scott), Fredd Matute (Momentum Racing GCS Quici), Jymmy Montenegro, Erik Pozo, and Héctor Álvarez (Movistar Best PC); Heiner Parra and Alexander Gil (Canel’s Java) tried to isolate race leader Luis Daniel Oses (7C Economy Hyundai), but the rider from Palmares remained solid and, with the support of his teammates, controlled the gap to the leaders.

The attacks of Alejandro Granados (Colono Bikestation Kolbi) and Richard Huera (Movistar Best PC) on the final climb saw them cross the finish line in third place on the hors catégorie mountain prize, behind Ecuadorian Jymmi Montenegro (Movistar Best PC), the virtual King of the Mountains, and his teammate Luis Aguilar (7C Economy Hyundai), who attacked on the descent, effectively whittling away the day’s breakaway, which was reduced to four riders.

Luis Aguilar, Luis Daniel Oses, Richard Huera, and Alejandro Granados worked together on the descent, steadily increasing the gap to the chasing peloton, led by Gabriel Rojas (ManzaTé La Selva Scott), eventually exceeding four minutes. This margin allowed the leading quartet to contest the stage victory amidst the euphoric support of the Cartago fans lining the roadside.

The four escapees waited until the final kilometer to make their move, while Richard Huera and Alejandro Granados waited for the final meters. Meanwhile, the yellow jersey wearer, Luis Daniel Oses, launched his teammate Luis Aguilar to his first stage win in the Vuelta a Costa Rica, which he celebrated wildly as a special gift for his uncle and brother in heaven.

Granados and Huera completed the day’s podium, while the Hyundai 7C Economy celebrated its third stage victory in the 59th edition of the “Vuelta Tica” and consolidated its overall lead with the reigning race champion. The peloton entered the race led by Joseph Ramírez (Colono Bikestation Kolbi) at 5 minutes and 19 seconds, a gap that allowed Aguilar to climb to third place on the stage podium and saw Gabriel Rojas (ManzaTé La Selva Scott) drop to fifth in the general classification.

The ninth stage of the 2025 Vuelta a Costa Rica Telecable will start and finish in Palmares, including the climbs of Alto de Santiago, El Aguacate, and Torre ICE, on a 93-kilometer route.
