Paraguay, and specifically the modern velodrome in Asunción, officially confirmed as the venue for the 2028 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, continues its preparations two years in advance for the most important competition in this discipline worldwide.

The event will take place in the Paraguayan capital and will feature the participation of the world’s best cyclists, positioning Paraguay as a key stage in the development of continental cycling.

During the official announcement last September, the acting president of the Paraguayan Cycling Federation, Bertha Hann, was accompanied by the president of the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI), José Manuel Peláez Rodríguez, and the president of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), David Lappartient, who highlighted the significance of this championship for the sport in Paraguay and the region.

This is not the first time Paraguay has hosted cycling events of this magnitude. In October, Asunción also hosted the Pan American Masters Cycling Championships, held from the 18th to the 26th, reaffirming the country’s commitment to promoting and developing cycling in all its categories.

This event represented a significant step for Paraguayan cycling, which gained greater prominence on the international stage, boosting sporting development and promoting Paraguay as a destination for high-level sporting events.

Following Colombia 2014, the Paraguayan championship will be the third track cycling championship held in South America in just a few years, as the 2015 edition took place from October 22nd to 26th in Santiago, Chile, at the Pamplona Velodrome.
