After a fantastic cycling battle with dramatic overtones, the Tour of Colombia 2025 a concluded this Sunday in the capital of the Republic. Rodrigo Contreras (Nu Colombia) from Cundinamarca defended his lead like a lion and reclaimed his title as champion of the UCI calendar race.

Contreras, who took the lead in the third stage finishing in Toquilla, was able to respond to multiple attacks from his main rival, Diego Camargo, to defend his first position with grace.

The final podium of the Colombian round in its 75th year was completed by Diego Camargo (Team Medellín-EPM) and Yeison Reyes (Orgullo Paisa), who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

The final stage began at a lively pace with several attacks from the opening kilometers. On the climb to Alto de Sisga, a fourth-category mountain race, Santander native Carlos Gutiérrez (Movistar Best PC) took the top spot.

This was followed by a show from Diego Camargo (Team Medellín-EPM), who attacked on the climb to Patios. Edgar Andrés Pinzón (GW Erco Shimano) and Yesid Pira (Hino-One-La Red-Suzuki) were glued to his wheel. However, after the descent, entering the seventh race, leader Rodrigo Contreras (Nu Colombia) managed to connect and hold off the attack from his closest rival, who was very active on the final climb.

With the two “Global Contenders” leading the way, the final three kilometers ticked by. Already in the final stretch, Contreras attempted to surprise his three rivals. However, Edgar Andrés Pinzón was unstoppable, securing GW Erco Shimano’s first victory in the Giro.
