In an unprecedented and demanding finish, Sebastián Castaño (Team Sistecrédito) emerged victorious in the second stage of the Tour of Colombia 2025, contested between Yopal and the Alto del Porvenir, covering 152.7 kilometers.
The Antioquian rider was the strongest in the final kilometers, taking a great victory ahead of Yeison Reyes (Orgullo Paisa) from Boyacá and Javier Jamaica (NU Colombia) from Bogotá. Castaño was brilliant in the final stages to seize the lead from his fellow countryman Wilmar Paredes of Team Medellín-EPM.
The day’s breakaway was led by Jorge Castiblanco (Pío Rico Cycling), Alejandro Ruiz (100% Huevos), Luis López (Alcaldía Facatativá-4W), Ecuadorian Pablo Caicedo (Movistar Best PC), and Costa Rican Sebastián Calderón (7C Economy Hyundai), but before the final climb, the group of favorites neutralized them.
As the toughest part of the final climb approached, there were multiple attacks, but the only one that prospered was Sebastián Castaño (Team Sistecrédito), who bravely held off the onslaught of his pursuers to celebrate in the department of Casanare.
The Colombian round will enter its third day this Sunday, a crucial 33.2-kilometer individual time trial, starting in Curisi and ending in Toquilla, where the title contenders will face each other in an important duel.
