The 2025 Tour of Costa Rica, to be held from December 12 to 21, will consist of 10 stages totaling 1,251 kilometers. Eight foreign teams will participate, to be announced in the coming days, the Costa Rican Cycling Federation (Fecoci) reported.

“This Tour will feature a lot of mountain stages, where the climbers will definitely be the main protagonists. We are extremely excited about another Tour of Costa Rica that will mark a different chapter in its history,” declared Fecoci President Óscar Ávila.

This 59th edition of the Tour of Costa Rica will include local teams and eight international teams yet to be announced, but authorities have confirmed the participation of one team from Chile and two European teams. To officially confirm the teams, the organizers are awaiting the finalization of the international rankings, as there are still preliminary events to be held that award points.

The Vuelta will consist of 10 stages, featuring 15 intermediate sprints, 12 mountain climbs, a time trial, and a circuit race.

The first stage will take place on December 12th between the city of Heredia and Grecia, in the province of Alajuela, for a total of 107 kilometers. The final stage will be the Circuito Presidente, a flat 99-kilometer stage in the province of Heredia, in the central part of the country, on the 21st.

The stage considered the queen will take place on the eighth day of competition, the 19th, between Pérez Zeledón (south) and Oreamuno, in the province of Cartago (central), for a total of 121 kilometers. This stage includes the ascent of Cerro Buena Vista, popularly known as Cerro de la Muerte (Hill of Death), at an altitude of approximately 3,300 meters, a first-category mountain pass.

Another attractive stage of the event will be a 17-kilometer time trial around the Turrialba volcano, which will be held on the fourth day of competition, December 15th.

The longest stage will be 198 kilometers on the sixth day of competition, when the cyclists will ride from Pérez Zeledón to Ciudad Neily, in the south of the country.

The reigning champion of the Tour of Costa Rica is local rider Luis Daniel Oses, of the 7C Economy team, who hopes to defend his title.
