The directors’ meeting that preceded the start of the World Championships on Tuesday was also—as has been the case in recent years—the moment in which the UCI communicates a series of information related to track racing for the more or less imminent future, in what has been dubbed the “Forum of Nations.”
One of the most important announcements was the competition schedule for the 2027 Super World Championships, which, as is known, will take place in Haute-Savoie (France), from August 24 to September 5, with the exception of the track competitions, which will be held in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
The UCI has announced that, unlike what happened at the Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow in 2023, the categories will not be mixed and will run as usual. Junior competitions will begin, which could even begin slightly earlier than August 24 to accommodate the five days; then the elites (also five days) and concluding with para-cycling (four days).
The governing body also assured that there will be no conflict with the road events, both senior and para-cycling, given the distance of more than 600 kilometers between the two venues.
However, the 2028 LA Olympic Games were also discussed, and some of the regulations regarding equipment were announced.
