In a high-speed finish, Jonathan Milan (Lidl – Trek) won the sprinter duel and claimed victory in the eighth stage of the 2025 Tour de France, covering a 171.4-kilometer route between Saint-Méen-le-Grand and Laval, on flat terrain.

The Italian cyclist, assisted by his teammates, claimed his first victory in the French round, finishing fastest in the sprint ahead of Belgian Wout van Aert (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin – Deceuninck), who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The best Colombian was Sergio Higuita (XDS Astana Team) in 77th place, 53 seconds behind the winner.

There were no changes in the overall standings. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates – XRG) continues to lead the race, followed by Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step) and Frenchman Kévin Vauquelin (Arkea-B&B Hotels).

The day’s breakaway was led by two French riders from Team TotalEnergies: Mathieu Burgaudeau and Mattéo Vercher. In the end, the two adventurers couldn’t hold off the onslaught of the peloton and were caught in the final stages.

The French tour will continue this Sunday with the ninth stage, a completely flat 174.1-kilometer section between Chinon and Châteauroux, which does not include any mountain obstacles.
