In an exciting finish, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates – XRG) won the seventh stage of the Tour de France on Friday, covering 197 kilometers between Saint-Malo and the Mur de Bretagne. The Slovenian star thus became the new leader of the French round.

Capitalizing on the work of Ecuadorian Jhonatan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates – XRG), the world champion launched a powerful and uncontested finish to take a great victory and once again don the coveted yellow jersey. Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) finished second, followed by Britain’s Oscar Onley (Team Picnic PostNL), who claimed the third bonus.

As for the Colombians, Antioquia-born cyclist Sergio Higuita (XDS Astana Team) put in a decent performance, crossing the finish line in 20th place, 1:01 behind the winner and new leader Tadej Pogacar. While Bogotá-born Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious) was involved in a crash, which prevented him from finishing with the best riders, trailing more than 13 minutes behind the winner.

Regarding the overall standings, everything returned to normal, with Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) once again leading the field. The partial podium was completed by Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step) and Frenchman Kévin Vauquelin (Arkea-B&B Hotels).

The French round will be held this Saturday, July 12th, with the eighth stage starting in Saint-Méen-le-Grand, over a distance of 171.4 kilometers. The stage will feature only one fourth-category mountain pass and an ideal finish for the race between the fast men at the finish line in Laval (Espace Mayenne).
