The fourth stage of the 2025 Tour de Suisse belonged to one of the race’s heavyweights. João Almeida took the win after covering the 193.2 kilometers that linked the Swiss towns of Heiden and Piuro.

The Portuguese rider, riding for UAE Team Emirates, used a time of 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 19 seconds to beat Briton Oscar Onley (Team Picnic PostNL) and Australian Ben O’Connor (Team Jayco AlUla), who finished second and third, respectively, 40 and 42 seconds behind.

In the individual general classification, although his performance in the first two places remained unchanged, he did so in third place on the podium. Frenchman Romain Grégoire (Groupama – FDJ) remains in the lead with a cumulative time of 15 hours, 37 minutes, and 20 seconds, followed by his compatriot Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa – B&B Hotels) at 25 seconds.

Also in third place was Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), who is 29 seconds behind. Today’s winner, João Almeida, climbed 11 places in the standings and is now seventh, 2 minutes, 07 seconds behind.

Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team), the only Colombian competing, finished 37th in the split, more than 13 minutes behind the Portuguese rider. Overall, the Beetle climbed to 53rd, 25 minutes, 07 seconds behind Grégoire.

This Thursday, the fifth stage will be contested between La Punt and Santa Maria in Calanca, a 183.8-kilometer route with a hilltop finish that will begin the process of selecting the final podium next Sunday to determine the new champion, a title currently held by Briton Adam Yates.
