In a high-speed finish, Wilmar Paredes (Team Medellín-EPM) took the victory this Friday in the first stage of the Toir of Colombia 2025, which ran through the outskirts of Yopal over a distance of 206 kilometers.

The Antioquian cyclist narrowly beat his fellow countrymen Cristián Vélez (GW Erco Shimano) and Alejandro Osorio (Orgullo Paisa), who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

The most important race on the national calendar kicked off with 161 cyclists, who took the start in the capital of the Casanare department. In the early stages, the group remained compact until the first attacks occurred after crossing the Aguazul Bridge.

The first break of the race was led by Sebastián Calderón (7C Economy Hyundai), Carlos Gutiérrez (Movistar Best PC), Andrés López (FUNRV Team Valle), Leison Maca (CRIC Nacional), Jhon Rengifo (FUNRV Team Valle), and Wessel Lange (Universe Cycling Team), but they were neutralized just past the halfway point.

In the final stretch, Jhon Patiño (FUNRV Team Valle) and Guatemalan Víctor Alfonso Tuiz (Hino-One-La red-Suzuki) made an attempt, but the men from NU Colombia and Team Medellín-EPM gave them no space and caught them with less than 10 kilometers to go.

The Colombian round will have its second stage this Saturday, a 152.7-kilometer stage, leaving Yopal to reach Alto del Porvenir, where the climbers will have their first duel.
