Tomás Moyano, the cyclist from San Luis province who rides for Gremios-Municipalidad de Santa Lucía, made a decisive move in the final meters and crossed the finish line first in the second stage of the 2026 Tour of San Juan.
The dramatic finish took place on the demanding Alto de Pedernal climb, under a few drops of rain that added extra spice to this battle on two wheels. Moyano outsprinted Nicolás Tivani (Municipalidad de Pocito) in a fierce sprint. Tivani remains firmly in the lead of the general classification, but now Moyano is just six seconds behind, breathing down his neck. Cristóbal Muñoz Báez of Plus Racing Cycling Team finished third, while José Autran Carrillo of the Chilean National Team completed the top four.
In this classic San Juan race, the second stage covered 131 kilometers across the extremely challenging terrain of the Sarmiento department and proved a true test, with 117 cyclists remaining on the course.
The overall individual standings were as follows: 1st) Nicolás Tivani with 5:54:13; 2nd) Tomás Moyano, 6 seconds behind; 3rd) Cristóbal Muñoz Báez, 12 seconds behind; 4th) José Autran Carrillo, 16 seconds behind; and 5th) Hugo Ruiz Calle of SEP San Juan, 17 seconds behind.
In the Under-23 category, Chilean Martín Mancilla Labrin of Stamina Racing took the victory, while Tivani remains the top San Juan rider. Moyano also won the mountain classification, and Leandro Velardez of Pocito took the sprint finish.
