In a grueling finish, João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) emerged victorious on stage 13 of the 2025 Vuelta a España, finishing at the Alto del Angliru. After a demanding 202.7-kilometer route, the Portuguese rider dominated the Asturian monster and is closing in on the leader.

On the non-category climb, Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) finished in second place, trailing the winner. 28 seconds behind, Australian Jai Hindley (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) took third place. The top five was completed by American Sepp Kuss (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Austrian Felix Gall (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team).

Harold Tejada from Huila (XDS Astana Team) was the best Colombian of the mountainous stage, finishing in eleventh place, 3:43 behind the winner. Juan Guillermo Martínez from Boyacá (Team Picnic PostNL) finished 15th, and Egan Bernal from Zipaquirá (Ineos Grenadiers) finished 16th, 4:32 behind.

In the overall standings, Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) fought back and retained the race lead. The Scandinavian now leads João Almeida by 46 seconds. The podium was completed by Briton Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) 2:18 behind, while Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) held on to 12th place.

The Spanish tour continues this Saturday with stage fourteen, another mountainous section of 135.9 kilometers between Avilés and La Farrapona, which includes three categorized climbs and a summit finish in Lagos de Somiedo (16.8 km at 6%).
