In a thrilling finale, Leonardo Rodríguez (Municipalidad de Chimbas) won the seventh stage of the 2026 Vuelta a San Juan, which finished at the Difunta Correa shrine. The stage route was altered due to inclement weather.
“I’m very happy with the victory because it was a really tough stage. We went for it from the start to create a gap,” said Rodríguez after the stage.
The 27-year-old Argentinian finished ahead of his compatriots Julián Barrientos (Municipalidad de Chimbas) and Tomás Contte (Municipalidad de Pocito), who finished second and third, respectively.
As for the general classification, the top positions remained unchanged. Tomás Contte (Municipalidad de Pocito) retained his overall lead, while Chilean Martín Mancilla (Stamina Racing) leads the under-23 category.
The Vuelta a San Juan continues this Saturday with the eighth stage, considered the queen stage, which will finish at Alto El Colorado. On Sunday in San Juan, we will find out who succeeds Nicolás Tivani, the reigning champion.
