The 2022 Pan American Cyclocross Championship will be held in Costa Rica on November 4 and 5 after several months of negotiations with the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI).

“It is very gratifying and satisfying, it is a country where there is no culture of this modality, therefore we have to develop it, but having been supported by COPACI and endorsed by the International Cycling Union (UCI) to be the hosts makes us enormously proud and soon we will have more activities by the Federation“, assured Óscar Ávila, president of the Costa Rican Cycling Federation (FECOCI).

It should be remembered that the Cyclocross season will take place from May, since this discipline is run in winter both in Europe and in the United States and due to the pandemic it is being carried out in closed places.

“I have decided to give this project to the Federation and do this project together with the Costa Rican Cyclo Cross Association to be able to develop one more modality in our cycling,” Ávila asserted.

During this year, the Costa Rican Cycling Federation will hold both national and international events to continue in the reactivation of the sport in the midst of the pandemic.
