The Puerto Rican Cycling Federation together with the national MTB and Road commissions have registered seven events on the UCI international calendar this 2023, but the closest is the Tropical MTB Challenge on February 25 and 26.
After the Florida Classic on February 19, everything is ready for the Mountain Bike event, which changes its classification from C1 to HC – Hors Class and is one of the two events in America with said classification, in addition to being part of the Junior Series of the International Cycling Union..
World-class cyclists such as the Chilean Martin Vidaurre are expected in his new Specialized Factory Racing team; the American Kate Courtney and the Mexican Gerardo Ulloa, who will deal with the locals Ricky Morales, third in the XCE world championship, Jacob Morales, current XCO – XCC National Champion and Georwil Perez from Team PURMTB, among other great surprises.
The Costa Rican sisters Marisol and Isabel García will also travel to Puerto Rico in the company of Melisa Ávila during the last week of February to participate in the Tropical Mountain Bike Challenge. They are recent medalists of the XL National Sports Games.
The XCO and XCC events will take place on February 25 and 26 in the vicinity of the Albergue Olímpico in Salinas, Puerto Rico.
Later, the Puerto Rican federation will organize the National Road Championship for the month of June. On Saturday, June 17, the Individual Time Trial will be run and on Sunday, June 25, the Individual Road Race.
The current champion of Puerto Rico Abner González, Ricky Morales, Jacob Morales, Elvis Reyes and Christopher Morales are expected to participate in this contest. For the women we await the current National Champion Donelys Cariño, Erialis Otero, Yunayka Leyva and Suheily Rodriguez together with other great exponents of the patio.
