In a final for sprinters, local runner Argenis Vanegas, from the Team Kilos team, was a prophet in his homeland by winning the first stage of the Tour of Nicaragua 2023, after traveling 145 kilometers around the municipality of Tipitapa, in the department of Managua.
In the opening section of the Nicaraguan round, Team Kilos dominated by occupying the first four positions, among them the Colombian Carlos Andrés Romero, who finished in third position.
At the end of the fraction, the winner of the segment expressed his satisfaction with what he had done today. “Thankful to God and the team, we did an exceptional and very clean job. I have a very compact team, everyone did their job and I had the legs to win,” said Vanegas.
He highlighted that the 145 kilometer route was exhausting, which ended with a sprint where the favorite teams put their best foot forward, but in the end they won with the experience and quality of the Kilos team.
This Thursday the second stage of the Tour of Nicaragua 2023 will be run, through the City of León, a section of 138 kilometers on flat terrain, surely another day for the sprinters to appear again.
