With the dominance of Bermuda in the women’s section and the Dominican Republic among the men, the Youth Caribbean Road Championship began this Wednesday in Santo Domingo, the capital of Quisqueya, which reserved its first date for the time trial in both sexes.

Miller Anabelle, from Bermuda, was the starter in the youth category, ahead of Jamaican Channelle Russell and local Rosselle Ogando; while in the pre-juvenile category another Bermudian Charlotte Millintong prevailed, superior to Russell Melaika from Jamaica. Both races were held over 10 kilometers.

Among the men, the competition was more numerous and the local Nahuel Cruz was proclaimed the new monarch of the Caribbean in the 20-kilometer time trial, leaving his teammate Anderson Aracena and Walle Sean, from Aruba, for second and third place, respectively.

Finally, in the pre-juvenile category, Dominican Rodrigo Alonso took the gold, while Jurvin González, from Aruba, and Ángel David from Dominican Republic completed the podium, in that order.

The contest will continue this Thursday 24 with the road tests, in which the local representatives come out again as favorites, based on their knowledge of the layout.
