CONSTANZA, REP. DOMINICAN The Caribbean MTB Mountain Cycling Championship 2019 is celebrated in the Constanza Hills ecotourism project of this city with the participation of 60 athletes from Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago, Curacao, Bermuda and the Dominican Republic.

Danilo Mirabal, president of the Dominican Mountain Biking Commission, said that “this competition is an opportunity for the Dominican Republic to grow in the mountain biking modality and also reaffirms Constanza as the Caribbean capital of Mountain Bike.”

Through a press release, Mirabal said that the modality that will be run on Saturday, October 5 is a fast one called Eliminator, while Sunday will be a Cross Country circuit. This championship, which has the endorsement and support of the Dominican Cycling Federation, is the prelude to bring the Latin American Mountain Cycling Championship to Constanza Hills next year and to be able to celebrate the First Pan American MTB in 2021.

Constanza Hills is a real estate ecotourism project that is located on the road that leads to Constanza at the height of La Cotorra, 4 km before Tireo and 15 minutes from the center of that city. It will have 97 lots, villas and a boutique hotel, among its main attractions is the practice of mountain biking, as well as hiking, bird watching, yoga and other activities for nature lovers.

The participating categories that accumulate points for the International Cycling Union (UCI) with a view to Pan American games and other important competitions throughout the continent are Elite 23 years old and older, Sub 23 from 19 to 22, and Junior 17 to 18 years.

In the Amateur line, the male categories are Cadets A and B of 13-14 and 15-16 years, Master A1 30-34 years, Master A2 35-39 years, Master B1 40-44 years, Master B2 45-49 years , Master C1 50-54 years and Master C2 55 and more. While the women are Cadets A and B of 13-14 and 15-16 years, Master A 30-39 years and Master B 40-49 years.

For the Caribbean MTB Mountain Cycling Championship, a 4.1 km long course that covers trails, sloping sections, down hill and the internal roads of the real estate project was adapted. Constanza Hills is located on the road that leads to Constanza at the height of La Cotorra, 4 km before Tireo and 15 minutes from the city center.

In Constanza Hills a training center of the International Cycling Union (UCI) will be created for high-level athletes.
