The excitement of the 2026 Vuelta a Bantrab concluded with another Colombian title, the third in five editions. The final victory went to César Guavita, who succeeded his compatriot Wilson Peña in the record books of the Guatemalan race, which was also won by Heiner Parra from Boyacá in 2022.

The Colombian cyclist proved to be the most complete rider throughout the five demanding stages held in Guatemala. The Colombian rider from the Ecuadorian team Best PC climbed to the top of the podium, accompanied by his countrymen Yesid Pira (Hino-One-La Red-Suzuki) in second place, and Wilson Peña (Team Sistecrédito) in third.

The final stage of the Vuelta Brantrab was a feast for Colombian cyclists, with the victory going to José Misael Urián from Boyacá. The 23-year-old, originally from Soracá, triumphed after covering 100 kilometers in Guatemala City.

Over the five days of competition, Colombians swept the stage, celebrating five victories: Kevin Castillo (Orgullo Paisa) and José Misael Urián (Team Sistecredito) won twice, and César Guavita (Team Best PC) took one stage win.

A solid champion

The reigning champion of the banking tour seized the lead after winning the second stage on Thursday, April 30th, a 119.3-kilometer route between San Felipe Retalhuleu and San Rafael Pie de la Cuesta, San Marcos.

In the third stage, he struggled considerably, but finished with the peloton that dominated the race, which was won by his compatriot Kevin Castillo, after a tough 132-kilometer circuit on the Los Altos Highway in Quetzaltenango.

The final major challenge for the now-champion was the fourth stage, a demanding 152-kilometer route between Salcajá, Quetzaltenango, and Patzicía, Chimaltenango, which was won by fellow Colombian José Urián. However, Guavita finished in the lead group and retained the yellow jersey, which identifies the overall leader.

After enduring those two grueling stages, César Guavita finally enjoyed a calmer final stage on the circuit held this Sunday on Avenida de la Reforma. The coffee grower simply stayed in the peloton and, with that, became champion with a time of 15:05:28 to complete a resounding victory, after five stages of the Tour.
