In a spectacular finish, Alejandro Osorio (GW Erco Shimano) won the seventh stage of the Clásico RCN 2024, disputed over 186.8 kilometers between Palmira and Pereira. The rider from Risaralda, Kevin Castillo (Team Sistecrédito), kept the lead of the race without problems.

The rider from Antioquia won the duel with his countryman Sergio Luis Henao (Nu Colombia) in the last meters. The packing in the group of favorites was in the hands of Anderson Castro (Colombia Potencia de la Vida), who reported in third place, 20 seconds behind the leading duo.

Regarding the general classification, Kevin Castillo (Team Sistecrédito) looks solid with the yellow jersey that accredits him as leader of the competition. The rider from Risaralda arrives to the penultimate day as leader with 22″ over Cristian Camilo Muñoz (Nu Colombia) and 28 seconds ahead of Diego Pescador (GW Erco Shimano).

The breakaway of the day was led by Andrés Camilo Ardila (Nu Colombia), Alejandro Osorio (GW Erco Shimano), Sergio Luis Henao (Nu Colombia), Juan Pablo Vallejo (100 % Huevos-Alcaldía de Manizales), Cesar Guavita (Colombia Potencia de la Vida), Brayan Vargas (Colombia Potencia de la Vida), Juan Carlos López (GW Erco Shimano), Brandon Rojas (GW Erco Shimano) and Camilo Castillo (Colombia Potencia de la Vida).

On the way to Pereira the leading group maintained a considerable advantage of more than three minutes with the peloton. Going up and down towards the finish line the breakaway was disintegrating little by little.

With less than seven kilometers to go, only Sergio Luis Henao (Nu Colombia) and Alejandro Osorio (GW Erco Shimano) stayed together until the end, where Osorio was the strongest in the final stretch to celebrate in the capital of Risaralda.

The eighth stage of the ‘Duel of Titans’ will be disputed this Saturday over 194.1 kilometers between Viterbo and Caldas, in another mountainous day. The successor of Aldemar Reyes, last year’s champion, will be known on Sunday in Bello, Antioquia.
