The Colombian Cycling Federation, chaired by Jorge Mauricio Vargas Carreño, the Executive Committee, its officials and the great family of Colombian cycling, deeply regret the departure of the youth cyclist from Antioquia Jerónimo Jaramillo Berrocal, who died this Thursday, February 23 in Rionegro, after the accident he suffered in the second stage of the 18th Ciudad Santiago de Arma – Rionegro Cycling Classic.

Jaramillo Berrocal, born in Medellín on July 1, 2006 (16 years old) was part of the Advanced Development Project, and during the National Interclubes and IV PAD Meeting in Duitama held at the end of last season, he had won the bronze medals in the scratch and keirin, in the track events, and had finished in tenth place in the individual time trial, on the road.

In the same way, he was awarded the Combativity shirt in the National Tour of the Future 2022, which was held in November in the department of Boyacá.

Jerónimo, who competed with the Itaca-Cobelén team, leaves us with a deep void, and he will always be remembered for his kindness, his strength and his desire to become a professional cyclist.

On behalf of the great cycling family and all our administrative staff, our deepest condolences and our message of solidarity for their parents Germán and Carolina, their other relatives, friends, teammates, coaches and the Antioquia Cycling League, in this difficult moment.
