The Colombian Cycling Federation has confirmed the official roster for the Colombian National Team for the 2026 Montreal Road World Championships, one of the major events on the international calendar, which will bring together the world’s best time trial and road race specialists.
Colombia will attend the competition with a delegation of 24 riders, distributed across six categories, combining the experience of its leading international figures with a significant representation of the new generation of Colombian cyclists.
In the elite men’s category, the Colombian National Team will be led by Nairo Quintana, Egan Bernal, Santiago Buitrago, Harold Tejada, Sergio Higuita, Brandon Rivera, and Walter Vargas.
The roster includes riders with extensive experience in Grand Tours and one-day races, as well as Walter Vargas, multiple Pan American time trial champion. For Nairo Quintana, the Montreal World Championships will also hold special significance, as the road race on Sunday, September 27, will mark his final competition as a professional cyclist, following a career that saw him conquer the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España, among other major titles.
The Colombian team will also include five riders in the Under-23 men’s category: Juan Diego Quintero, Miguel Ángel Marín, Jaider Muñoz, William Colorado, and Robert Andrés Plazas.
In the junior men’s category, the selected riders will be Juan Esteban Sánchez, José Manuel Posada, and Alejandro Pamplona. Meanwhile, the elite women’s team will be represented by Diana Carolina Peñuela, Paula Andrea Patiño, and Laura Daniela Rojas.
In the Under-23 women’s category, Colombia will field Juliana Londoño, Angie Mariana Londoño, and Natalia Garzón, while the junior women’s category will be represented by Salomé Vargas, Zara Sofía Lamprea, and Estefanía Castillo.
The Colombian National Team will be led by national coach David Vargas, who will be in charge of the team’s sporting direction during the championship. Mechanical support will be provided by Óscar Guiral and Zimael Mejía, and physiotherapy support will be provided by Daniel Rincón and Danilo Suárez.
Montreal will host the UCI Road World Championships again, more than five decades after the 1974 edition. Canada also hosted the Hamilton World Championships in 2003. The 2026 edition includes 13 events, among them individual time trials, road races, and the mixed relay, with participation from the elite, U23, and junior categories.
