The Colombian Egan Bernal has changed his competition plan for what was the end of the month of May. Although it had been announced a few days ago that he would be on the Tour of Norway, he did not appear on the list and all the fans’ alarms went off due to the health of the Zipaquireño.

However, in the last hours it was learned that the cyclist is in good physical condition after eighth place in the Tour of Hungary, his best performance in the current season after recovering from his accident. The decision not to have it on Nordic soil was made by the Ineos Grenadiers staff.

The British squad claimed that the problem and confusion arose because the organization announced the riders before the final delivery of the documentation. For this reason, Egan was among the participants: “The thing is that organizations publish the lists without final confirmation with the team,” the staff stated.

At the same time that he was discarded among the travelers to Norway, Bernal received the great news of being among those pre-registered for the Critérium du Dauphiné, one of the most important French races of the season, which will also be attended by figures such as Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma ), Enric Mas (Movistar), Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious) and Richard Carapaz (EF Education EasyPost), among others.

The Colombian will be accompanying Daniel Martínez in Dauphiné, with the aim of starting to film that duo that Ineos hopes to unite in the Tour de France, this time changing roles. The Zipaquireño will play the gregarious and ‘Dani’ will be in charge of fighting for a leading position in the general classification.

From the team they have also sown the unknown about his presence on the Tour, although they are optimistic with what they have seen throughout this season.
