The Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal went to the operating room again. This time, however, the operation to which the Colombian, winner of the 2019 Tour de France and the 2021 Giro d’Italia, underwent, was much calmer than the one that occurred in the recent past, especially after the accident that saw him involved on January 24, 2022.

In fact, the Ineos runner underwent an operation on his nose, a septorhinoplasty, to remedy a problem that made it difficult for him to breathe. Bernal has already returned to training with a view to returning to competitions in 2023: more news is still expected from him in regards to his personal calendar.

As confirmed by the team of Dr. Gustavo Miery and Dr. Andrés Tobar to SoHo, Bernal “had nasal obstructive pathology, multiple nasal traumas and, in addition, he presented a septal deviation that generated a significant obstruction to the passage of air, a condition that is it became more evident in moments of greater physical effort”.

Thus, the cyclist underwent “a functional septorhinoplasty, a procedure that seeks to eliminate this problem and improve respiratory function, that is, facilitate the passage of air through the nose.”

Bernal has been very disciplined in his recovery and he does not stop training to recover the level he had before the accident he suffered in which he almost lost his life. Precisely, on December 24 before celebrating Christmas, Egan trained and stopped to take photos with his admirers, in which his new appearance really caught his attention after going through the operating room.
