In the middle of the presentation of the Vuelta a España teams, one of the most followed riders, the Colombian Egan Bernal spoke about his goals in the Iberian fight and was not only reflective, but also made his goals clear.
Everything is ready for the start of a new edition next Saturday, August 26, and this Thursday the presentation of the teams took place. The party was total and that’s how they made Egan Bernal feel when it was the turn of the INEOS Grenadiers. At the moment in which the ‘young wonder’ was preparing to speak, the public applauded him.
There was an emotional situation that led the ‘beetle’ to smile, with some sorrow, blushing. Once ‘the tide went out’, he prepared to issue a few words, in which he left a reflection that is worth highlighting and for which he was once again applauded. There, he remembered a bit of what he experienced, due to the severe accident he suffered at the beginning of 2022, and how he feels to be where he is.
“I am super happy, I think that this is worth a lot to me, being able to be in a race as important as the Tour of Spain. First it was the Tour de France and now here, so to feel all the love from the people is nice. In addition, to feel that many feel a little inspired and identified with what has been happening to me, it is worth all the effort we have made, “he said.
But it was not the only thing. Continuing his speech, he added that “it will continue to be done to inspire children and other people.” All this, before giving way to the sports theme, since they asked him, instantly, about his objectives in the Iberian round. Egan Bernal, with complete sincerity and aware of what he is experiencing and going through, was clear and forceful with his response for what is to come.
“I come 100% to help the team. I would love it if I can help a teammate to win the race or a stage, I want to feel useful with the team and give my best. I come with the mentality of giving my all to the squad”, declared the Colombian runner, who knows that he must fight and give results to earn his place, the same one he had a few years ago.
