The record holder and world champion, Filippo Ganna, began this week his physical and mental preparation for the new cycling season of 2023, which will begin in the Tour of San Juan, in Argentina, where they have announced that Egan Bernal and Peter Sagan will also attend.

Ganna, fresh from a splendid end to the season with victories on the track with Hour Record and World Record and gold in Individual Pursuit, the Ineos Grenadiers had taken a month off, “five weeks” of complete vacation away from the bike.

An important period of unloading, both physically and mentally, which has now come to an end, with our eyes already set on the new year and the new objectives, especially on the road, but obviously not only, since the commitments on the track will be important in the perspective of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The season debut, already announced in recent weeks, will be in the Vuelta a San Juan, in Argentina, an already traditional race for its premiere since 2021 with excellent results.

If the details are yet to be fully worked out, the main races of his season are clear, around which the entire program will be built. In the spring he will do Milan – Sanremo and Paris – Roubaix, races that he will try to experience first-hand as the protagonist, which will be followed by the Giro d’Italia, with at least two time trials in which he will try to win.

As for the track, for February he will sign up for the Eurocup in Grenchen, with the aim of starting to score important points for the Olympic qualification on the track.

The other great objective will clearly be to try to recover the rainbow time trial jersey at the Glasgow 2023 World Cup, an appointment that will be held this time in August, within the quadrennial SuperWorld Championships that will have its inaugural edition next year.
