The 42nd edition of the Tour of Boyacá opened with a 4.2 kilometer prologue and the partial victories of Germán Chaves (EPM-Scott) and Camila Valbuena (Tierra de Atletas GW Shimano), who will start the first stage this Thursday as the first leaders of the competition.

The Choconta rider signed the victory with a time of 5:53, beating on the podium Brayan Ramírez (EBSA) from Bogotá by hundredths and Hernando Bohórquez (EPM-Scott) from Boyacá by 2 seconds, who made times of 05:53 and 05:55, respectively.

The 26-year-old from Cundinamarqués begins in this way the search for his second title, making important differences to some of his main rivals, such as Juan Pablo Suárez (EPM-Scott) who finished 27 seconds, and Darwin Atapuma (Colombia Tierra de Atletas GW Shimano), 28 seconds.

Likewise, the EPM-Scott team installed among the top ten of the fraction, in addition to Chaves, two other of its runners who are Hernando Bohórquez, third, 2 seconds behind the winner, and Aldemar Reyes, eighth, 8 seconds.

The first stage will take place this Thursday over 115 kilometers, starting in Ventaquemada and finishing in Macanal. In total there will be 5 days of competition until October 10 with a total route of 446.5 kilometers.

Valbuena is confirmed

As if to confirm that what was done in the Women’s Tour of Colombia was no coincidence, Camila Valbuena, took the individual time trial in Villa de Leyva of 4.2 kilometers, with a time of 7:08 minutes.

Behind, four seconds behind, Jessenia Meneses (Colombia Tierra de Atletas GW Shimano) arrived, while third place went to Ana Milena Fagua from Boyacá (Indeportes Boyacá Avanza) at 8 seconds.

The fourth place in the chrono went to the 2019 champion, the Santander Ana Cristina Sanabria (Colombia Tierra de Atletas GW Shimano) losing 16 seconds. In total, there were 22 cyclists who took the start, on the return to the competition after the stop due to the pandemic, which suspended last year’s edition.

At the end of the fraction, the winner expressed her satisfaction for what was done today. “Very happy to have won this prologue. We started this Tour of Boyacá on the right foot and we hope to continue defending this leader’s jersey until the end ”, said Valbuena.

The first stage will be held this Thursday over 115 kilometers, starting in Ventaquemada and finishing in Macanal. In total there will be five days of competition until October 10 with a total route of 291.6 kilometers.
