In a final full of emotions, Niklas Behrens (Germany) was proclaimed world road champion in the U-23 category, after a rainy day, disputed on 173.6 kilometers between Uster and Zurich, in Swiss territory, where the best for America was in charge of the Mexican Isaac del Toro with a sixth place.

The Teutonic rider won the duel with Slovak Martin Svrček, while Belgian Alec Segaert came in third at 28 seconds. In fourth place was the Swiss Jan Christen and the top 5 was closed by the British Joseph Blackmore.

The best Latin American was the Mexican Isaac del Toro in 6th place, 46 seconds behind the winner. As for the ‘beetles’, the most prominent, of the four who took the start, was Mauricio Zapata, in 65th place at 15:43″ of the winner, then entered William Colorado in 80th position and Jaider Muñoz 94th, while Jefferson Ruiz did not finish the race.

The breakaway of the day was led by Giulio Pellizzari (Italy), Robin Orins (Belgium), Jan Christen (Switzerland) and Martin Svrček (Slovakia), but the quartet was caught entering the last turns of the circuit.

In the closing, the Swiss Jan Christen was the great protagonist riding alone at the head of the race for more than 30 kilometers, however, in the final part was neutralized by a group of chasers. In the definition, the German Niklas Behrens was the strongest and won the gold medal.
