For the second consecutive year, the Guatemalan cyclist Sergio Chumil will have the opportunity to demonstrate his talent in Spain after being announced as one of the renewals of the Aluminios Cortizo team for the 2023 season.

The native of Tecpán, Chimaltenango, earned the trust of the leaders of the Padronés cycling club and will be one of the 11 riders who will continue for another year under the orders of coach Marcos Serrano.

Sergio’s renewal was announced through the social networks of the Spanish team. Along with the Guatemalan, Carlos Gutiérrez, Fran Rus, John Jiménez, Jeison Rujano, Sebas Calderón, Iñaki Errazquin, Marc Terrasa, Iván Saborido, Álex Paz and Samuel Signo were confirmed.

On the new season that Sergio Chumil will face in Spain

This will be Chumil’s second adventure with Aluminios Cortizo, where he became one of the benchmarks for the Under-23 team in the 2022 campaign. In total, he participated in 28 events and climbed to at least 4 podiums.

Now by 2023, Sergio is expected to compete again in Spain and Portugal as he did in his first season. His main objective will be the Spanish Elite and Under-23 Cup, organized by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.

The calendar of these competitions will begin on February 26, 2023 and will end on May 21. Races are planned in Bajadoz, Murcia, Gipuzkoa, Albacete, Valladolid, Torredonjimeno, Valencia, Coruña and Pontevedra.

It is important to remember that Sergio has just participated in the 61st Guatemala Cycling Tour with the Hino One La Red team, with which he reached the U-23 category champion title. He also placed fifth in the General Classification.
