MEXICO. The cyclists Ignacio Prado and Yareli Salazar were among the top five in the omnium and scratch, within the third stage of the Track Cycling World Cup, in Hong Kong.

Prado finished in fourth place with 118 points after a sum of 38 in scratch, 38 in tempo, 16 in elimination and 26 in points.

The first box was for New Zealand’s Campebll Stewart with 142, followed by German Roger Kluge with 133 and Swiss Thery Schir with 125.

Salazar finished in fifth place. The winner was the Norwegian Yvonne Stenberg, while the second position went to the Austrian Verena Sberhardt, followed by the Portuguese Maria Martins.

Meanwhile, Daniela Gaxiola and Jessica Salazar stayed one step away from the semifinals in individual speed, a test won by local Wai Sze Lee, followed by German Emma Hinze and Canadian Kelsey Mitchell.

Gaxiola fell in the quarterfinals against the Ukrainian Olena Starikova, while Salazar did it against the German Hinze.

On his way Salazar found himself in 11th place in the qualification, then Dwi Putri of Indonesia and Mandy Marquardt of the United States prevailed.

While Gaxiola in the 20th place of the qualification, he then won on the way to the Italian Miriam Vece and the German Pauline Sophie Grabosch. (deportedigital.com.mx)
