He crowned the breakaway! Itamar Einhorn emerged victorious in the seventh stage of the Tour of Rwanda 2024. The Israeli champion of Israel-Premier Tech was the strongest of the breakaway after 163.3 kilometers between Rukomo and Kayonza. Einhorn’s British teammate Joseph Blackmore remains the leader of the African race.
The Israeli champion beat young Belgian Lorenz van de Wynkele (Lotto Dstny Development Team) in a two-man sprint. Slovenian Gal Glivar (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z) came in third.
As for the two Colombians in competition, they both arrived in the bunch with the favorites 47 seconds behind the winner. Jonathan Restrepo (Polti-Kometa) came in 34th and Germán Darío Gómez (Polti-Kometa) in 35th place.
The seventh day in Rwanda was not easy, once again. The menu presented many climbs and also climbed in the final stretch. From the last three kilometers it was an uphill climb to the finish.
