CARACAS. Venezuelan cyclist Jimmy Briceño (Alexander’s Investments) has been awarded the 54th edition of the Vuelta al Táchira by bike in his country after maintaining the lead in the eighth and final stage, a day of 115.2 kilometers played at the Santos circuit Rafael Bermúdez.
Briceño, who faced the last day with 53 seconds of income on his most direct rival, had no opposition to finish at most something on the podium of the tachirense round, thus adding his second title after the achieved in 2012 – the third if we count the title that was withdrawn in 2014 after a positive by EPO-.
Along with the investment team cyclist Alexander’s went to the podium Luis Mora (Carabobo Team) and Jhonathan Salinas (Lotería del Táchira), second and third respectively.
Jimmy Briceño was “happy to be a champion, we worked hard and took advantage of the mistakes of other teams, thanks to God, humility allowed me to continue fighting for my dream, I am happy to win the round”.
The last stage victory was taken by Colombian Miguel Eduardo Flórez (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec), ahead of Orluis Aular (Gov. Miranda) and Sergio Martínez (Fundación Buenahora). (esciclismo.com)
