Mexican Efrén Santos took the last stage of the Vuelta al Ecuador and Jimmy Santiago Montenegro crossed the finish line in second place and that was enough to maintain the difference and proclaim himself champion of the Vuelta al Ecuador.

At 22, Jimmy Santiago Montenegro is already celebrating his first victory in the Vuelta al Ecuador. The cyclist born in Playón de San Francisco, in the province of Sucumbíos, was the most solid throughout the six stages and was able to win the final victory.

Byron Guamá, Joel Burbano and Jorge Montenegro got into the escape and advanced until the last kilometers in a compact way. However, Efrén Santos was the winner of the Stage. Jorge Montenegro, who could not keep the title, punctured in the last five kilometers and was assisted by Team Movistar Ecuador.

For his part, Joel Burbano from the Sin Fronteras team won the title of mountain champion (and second overall). While Sebastián Noboa was left with the victory of the intermediate finish.
