In a finish to the delight of the sprinters for finishing on flat terrain and a wide avenue to sprint, Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) took victory in the fourth stage of the Volta a Catalunya 2023, developed over 188.2 kilometers between Llívia and Sabadell.

The Australian beat the Frenchman Bryan Coquard (Cofidis), who crossed the finish line in second place, and the New Zealander Corbin Strong (Israel – Premier Tech), who finished in third place. For the first time, no representative from America was able to enter the top ten of a stage.

Regarding the general classification, Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) remain tied with the same time. The podium is completed by the Italian Giulio Ciccone (Trek–Segafredo) at 19 seconds. While, Esteban Chaves (EF Education-EasyPost), kept the eighth place.

From very early the battle broke out to arm the escape of the day. After several attempts, the breakaway was led by the French Nans Peters (AG2R Citroën Team), the Danish Christopher Juul-Jensen (Team Jayco AlUla), the Norwegian Torstein Træen (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) and the Spanish David de la Cruz ( Astana Qazaqstan Team) and Roger Adrià (Kern Pharma Team), but in the final kilometers they were neutralized by the peloton.
